Peep Cupcakes

My husbands favorite Easter candy is Peeps.  He has to have them in his Easter basket (yes, he still gets an Easter basket full of his favorite Easter candies).    So these cupcakes were for him.  I don't think he even noticed the cupcakes, he went straight for the Peeps.

Lily Cake

This is a cake I made for an Easter brunch.  This was just a small 6" white cake with chocolate butter cream frosting in a basket weave.  I made the Lilies out of fondant.   It made a great center piece.

Easter Cupcakes

These cupcakes really dress up a table for an Easter gathering.  I used green dyed coconut, but if you don't like coconut, you can always use green chocolate shavings.   Or make it really easy and use a grass tip and just use green butter cream.

Earth Day Pudding Treats

For the past two Earth Days, I've been going to my oldest daughters school and teaching them about the importance of recycling and planting gardens in a yummy way.  This treat is so easy to make.  Here are the steps:
  1. You'll need small terracotta pots, individual snack size pudding cups, green spoons, fake flowers, hot glue gun, Oreos, gallon size bag, and gummy worms.
  2. Crush the Oreos in the gallon size bag so that it looks like dirt.  Cut worms in half.
  3. Hot glue one flower to the tip of each spoon.
  4. Place pudding cups in pots and remove top.
  5. Carefully place enough crushed Oreos on top of pudding to cover it.
  6. Place gummy worm into the pudding and place spoon in center of each pudding snack.
When the kids are done with their snack they rinse out their pudding snacks and recycle them.  I also have real dirt and flower seeds on hand for them to plant in their pots.  Tip:  Cut wax paper for the bottom of the pot so the dirt won't fall out.  Bring plastic wrap and rubber bands to cover the pots so they won't spill on their way home.  The kids love it!

CAbi Cake

A friend of mine is a CAbi consultant and had a spring preview show at her house (If you've never heard of CAbi clothes, please check them out, love their clothes).  Anyway, she asked if I could make a cake for her party in the shape of the logo.  The cake was a 1/2 sheet white almond cake with red raspberry filling.  I used butter cream frosting and fondant flowers.  The party was a great success!

Dora Cupcakes

Dora is big at our house.  These cupcakes were a big hit with my girls.  I got the idea from the Nickelodeon web site.  So easy to do, but looks like you spent a lot of time and effort!  My oldest daughter did wonder why I didn't make any Boots cupcakes.

Island Cake

My youngest daughter wanted a Dora cake for her 4th Birthday. But since we just moved to Hawaii, I was hoping to do a more tropical looking themed cake. I was able to please her and still do my cake when I found a little Dora doll with an ukulele. The bottom tier was a chocolate cake with fudge filling and chocolate butter cream frosting. I love the look of the cookies around the cake. The second layer was a white lime cake with cream cheese frosting. The sandal cookies were a big hit at the party. The guests were afraid to eat them at first, thinking I put them on real sand (I vita mixed some graham crackers).

Star Wars

Because I have two girls, I always jump at the chance to make boy themed birthday cakes. Apparently this is a Star Wars Ship called a Death Star (never saw the movie). The challenge was to make this round cake stay. Yes I figured it out, the ship stayed docked.

Cow Girls First Birthday

For my youngest daughters first birthday I made a chocolate 1/2 sheet shaped cowboy boot cake for the family, and a small apple cake with whip cream frosting for the birthday girl. This was her first taste of cake and ice cream.

Colonel Cake

Being promoted to Colonel (full bird colonel) is a very big deal, so I was honored to make a colonel rank cake for her promotion party. Pink was the way to go! A very BIG 1/2 sheet chocolate cake shaped as a colonel rank. Not only was it big, it was heavy!

Christmas Present

I've done several present box cakes, but this one is my favorite. It looks so elegant with the fondant gold bow.

Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate!

I made this birthday cake for a good friend of mine. She loves chocolate, so I made a chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling. Chocolate butter cream wasn't enough of a chocolate frosting, so I poured on chocolate ganache! She loves pink, so I added a few fondant pink flowers to make this Death By Chocolate Cake look elegant. It was so rich, I could only eat one little slice, loved it!

1st Birthday Cake

For my oldest daughters first birthday, I made her a 6" apple cake with whip cream frosting. The butterflies were made out of chocolate. This was her first taste of cake and chocolate. We actually had two birthday parties for her; one on her actual birth day, and the other a week later when family could visit. The Winnie the Pooh cake is also a 6" apple cake with whip cream frosting. The Pooh characters were also made out of chocolate.

Wedding Topper

One of my friends wanted to recreate her wedding cakes' top tier for her anniversary. I thought it looked so elegant with the cherry blossoms. I would have loved to have recreated the whole cake.

Carrot Cake

For our 12th Wedding Anniversary I made one of my husbands favorite cakes (he has many "favorites"). I used real carrots and a great blend of spices for this carrot cake recipe. The vanilla bean cream cheese frosting made this a decadent desert. I only made a 6" cake for us, and then cup cakes that he took to work the next day. I don't even think he noticed the fondant carrot decorations, but I thought they looked cute.

Caroler Cookie Containers

I got the idea to make these cute little Caroler Cookie Containers from a magazine. I used them to pass out homemade cookies to my children's teachers and our neighbors for Christmas.

Army Tank Cake

These were really fun birthday cakes to do. Two small 6" cakes with camouflage fondant and a 1/4 sheet cake shaped as a tank.

Butterfly Cake

This was a simple 8" cake with chocolate butterflies.

Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes

I had a few chocolate cupcakes with chocolate ganache left over and wanted to practice my butter cream roses. Almost too pretty to eat . . . . almost.

Bunco Cake

I brought these dice cakes to my first Bunco Party. Each cake was around 6"x6"x6". They were all different flavor cakes: red velvet cake with cream cheese filling, chocolate cake with Oreo cream filling, and white almond cake with chocolate fudge filling.

Baby Shower Cupcakes

This is actually 24 cupcakes that are frosted to look like a cake. I used the cupcake baby booties on top to make it look more like a cake.

Baby Shower Booties Cake

This 1/2 sheet cake was for a baby shower. The little pink booties (made out of cupcakes) really looked cute on top.
