Mickey Mouse Cupcakes

My 2nd graders teacher loves Mickey Mouse.  So for her birthday we surprised her during class with these cupcakes.  So simple to make.  After making a yellow cupcake and frosting them with yellow butter cream, I topped each one with a chocolate that I piped into shape and let hardened.  Fast, easy, and very cute!

Dora Star Cupcakes

These Dora star cupcakes were so simple to make.  I made chocolate cupcake and topped it with white butter cream.  A cookie cutter made the star shape easy to make.  The smile and eye brows were drawn on by an edible pen, the eyes were piped butter cream.  My youngest daughter recognized that these weren't just any stars, they were Dora stars.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cake

I love experimenting and making new cakes.  The friend I made this for really gave me free range of whatever I wanted to do.  Her husband loved Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, so for his birthday I made a 10" square chocolate cake  with peanut butter frosting.  After experimenting for awhile, I came up with a great peanut butter frosting.  Chocolate cake with this peanut butter frosting maybe one of my new favorites!

Dora Cake

This two year old birthday girl loved Dora, so it was an easy decision to make a Dora cake.   I used a 9x13 cake and decorated it as a Dora story board.  Dora had to go around the turtle pond, through the palm tree forest, and over a rainbow.  The Dora figurines came from my daughters Dora Candy Land Game.  The turtles and palm tree are chocolate and the rainbow is fondant.

Turkey Time Cupcakes

These were so much fun to make!  I saw them in a cupcake book and just had to make them.  I'm sure my friends at church think I'm crazy, putting all this work into cupcakes for just a church potluck, but the kids loved them.  I made a pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese butter cream.  Decorations included:  caramel chew, chocolate covered corn flakes, Pringle Stix, Grape Nuts and green and orange sprinkles.  Put them together and what have you got?  A Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner!!!

Pie???

I was able to spend my Dads 70th birthday with him here in Hawaii.

I think I was in high school the last time I made my Dad a cake.  He's not really a cake person, so I made his favorite pie into a cake.  I made a white cake in a pie pan and used a little bit of butter cream and red raspberry pie filling for the frosting.  Fondant as dough made the perfect touch.  My Dad was so surprised!  I wish I could spend every birthday with my family. 

Picnic Cupcakes

My husband asked me to make cupcakes for a picnic he had to attend.  He said nothing fancy, just simple cupcakes.  So I made simple chocolate cupcakes, frosted with green butter cream.  Chocolate covered almonds were used for the ants body.  Chewy fruit gummies were used for the watermelons.
See!  Simple! 

It's not a picnic until the ants come marching in!
